Genevieve Mousseaux was a wonderful visual artist, potter, and friend. For many years (from 1989 to just prior to the pandemic in 2019), I used to visit Genevieve in her Paris apartment. I always felt I was crossing a border between life and art when I entered. Genevieve would give me a tour of her “world”: her latest paintings and drawings, her favorite music, her beautiful pottery. Art was her daily bread.
Genevieve used to study the works of the “great masters”—Chagall was among her favorites. As a nod to the publication of my book Blue Cats, Genevieve gave me one of her studies of Chagall’s painting, “Paris through My Window”—but with the color of the cat changed from its original yellow to blue!
Merci, Genevieve!
